About Cats Guide
I’m Hannah Reeves, and I started Cats Guide after a lifetime of living with cats, from kittens raised by hand to rescues who needed patience, to old cats I nursed through their final years.
Every time something went wrong, or I simply wasn’t sure, I ran into the same problem. There was plenty of clinical information about cats, but very little that honestly joined it up for an owner: what’s normal, what isn’t, what actually helps, and when you genuinely need a vet. The good advice was scattered, contradictory, or wrapped around something someone wanted to sell me.
So I built the resource I wish I’d had.
What this site covers
I write about the whole of caring for a cat, in plain language and from real experience, organised into the areas owners actually search for:
- Cat Health & Illness, spotting illness and knowing when it’s an emergency
- Kittens & New Cats, the first weeks with a new arrival
- Cat Behaviour, litter, scratching, anxiety, and more
- Cat Nutrition & Feeding, feeding your cat well
- Senior Cat Care, caring for an ageing cat
I don’t diagnose individual cats or handle emergencies, and nothing here replaces a visit to your own vet.
How we keep it accurate
I’m an owner, not a vet, so every article is reviewed by a veterinary surgeon, Dr Sarah Whitfield, before it’s published. The lived experience is mine; the clinical facts are checked by someone qualified to check them. We cite authoritative sources, such as the AAHA, the AAFP, the Cornell Feline Health Center, and International Cat Care, and show the publication, last-updated, and review dates on every article. See our Editorial Policy for details.
