Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 19, 2026

We like to keep things simple here, and that includes how we treat your data. This page explains what Cats Guide (“we”, “us”) does and doesn’t do with your information when you visit the site or get in touch.

The short version

  • We collect very little, and only what helps the site work and improve.
  • We do not sell your data, and we never use it to build advertising profiles.
  • We use light, privacy-friendly analytics that don’t track you across other sites.
  • If you email us, we keep your message only as long as we need to reply and follow up.
  • You can contact us anytime with a question or to ask us to delete your details.

If that’s all you needed, lovely. The rest is the fuller detail for anyone who wants it.

What we collect

Honestly, not much. There are two main things:

  • What you send us. If you email us or use the form on our contact page, we receive your message, your email address, and your name if you choose to share it.
  • Basic visit data. Like nearly every website, we see anonymous, aggregated figures such as which pages get read, the rough region a visit came from, and the device or browser used.

When pages are delivered, standard technical details (including your IP address) are handled by a content delivery network so the site loads quickly and securely.

How we use it

We use this handful of information to:

  • keep the site running, safe, and a bit better each month;
  • see which cat-care articles are genuinely helpful, so we can prioritise more like them; and
  • read and reply to the messages you send us.

That’s it. We don’t sell anything, and there’s no ad profiling going on behind the scenes.

Cookies and analytics

We try to keep cookies to the minimum needed to serve pages. Where we measure how the site is doing, we use a privacy-conscious analytics provider set up to gather as little as possible, with IP anonymisation switched on and no cross-site tracking. You can always clear or block cookies through your browser settings.

Who else is involved

The site runs through a content delivery network, and we may use a privacy-conscious analytics provider. They handle limited technical data on our behalf so the pages load and we can understand broad trends. We don’t share your personal information beyond what’s needed to run the site, or where the law requires it.

Keeping and deleting data

We hold on to email correspondence only for as long as it takes to help you and wrap up any follow-up, then it goes. Aggregated analytics are kept no longer than we need to spot trends.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may be able to access, correct, delete, or limit the use of your personal information, or object to certain processing. Just ask us through the contact page and we’ll sort it out as the law requires.

Children

Cats Guide is written for a general adult audience and isn’t aimed at children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age.

Security

We take sensible technical and organisational steps to protect the little information we hold. No method of sending data over the internet is ever completely secure, though, so we can’t promise absolute security.

Updates

We may refresh this policy now and then. The “Last updated” date above shows the current version, and carrying on using the site after a change means you’re happy with it.
